Origin and Purpose

I think it is fair to say that we all recognize patterns to existence, the most common one must be the circle of life, birth, growth, reproduction and death. It seems every living being follows that course, and as such we can say that those that resemble each other must have a similar origin. But this principle goes further than just the living, every physical object that resembles another has a similar origin, the sun was created in the same way every other star was created. However, animals that do not resemble humans, still reproduce in a similar fashion, equally plants all have similar reproductions but do not resemble each other at all. The diversity of nature seems to fall short when it comes to reproduction, or maybe, this shows how most animals and plants have come from a very few initials, proof perhaps that diversity has taken time and that it started with just a few variations.
Then there is purpose, does the grass grow so the sheep can eat and does the sheep grow so the human can eat? Life cycles are not just individual sequences, it seems life is tied together, the food chain is perhaps another pattern understood by most. Lots at the bottom and very few at the top, except for humans whose development has given them an advantage over lions and the such, able to cultivate as much food as they need and look after the health of the population. Does it mean that reproduction is the sole purpose of all life? As a creative person myself, I am happy to produce pieces of work that may last longer than me, that my contribution will be through art not sex. Maybe my purpose is to worship God, to look higher up, like the grass and the sheep, there seems always a higher purpose.
There seems little doubt that every object started in the same place at the same time, the big bang, but maybe the big bang involved some form of reproduction, that other universes take responsibility for this universe. However my notion of origin and purpose is best described according to what I call cosmology and teleology. Cosmology is divided into, the void, the particle, the vegetable, the animal, the human, the spirit and the God, each being the next step in evolution, and the origin of each coming from the one before. Equally the purpose of each belongs to the next one along, this is a simplified version, I just wanted to show some simple steps in a complex web. Patterns can be seen, but the proof is a lot harder to articulate, perhaps humans origin is their smile and their purpose, laughter.
