An introduction to Ed Boait's mind

Can I teach you anything? It's a question I often ask myself, is my writing able to increase another persons intellect. There is a saying that, 'all philosophy is just a footnote to Plato', that he set out all the areas of knowledge and reason, that nothing can extend our system of belief. In my early days of being a philosopher, every theory was wrong, I wanted to falsify every theory, that my theory would shed light on everything we didn't know, in fact it was an entirely different kind of knowledge, 'new knowledge'. This is the main reason, that now in a much older age, some 15 years later, I often consider how I could add to someone's knowledge.

For me, my mind is full of theories, I look at these theories as extending over my existence, some cover a lot, others cover very little. It is like umbrellas, some are bigger than others, some are higher up than others, some grow and shrink as I think about them. I don't wish to consider the origins of ideas, leave that to the historians, I wish to discuss the purpose of beliefs, what are they good for and how do they improve. Like I said, Plato may have covered all areas of knowledge, but still we look to write new theories, to fill every corner of knowledge, Plato said knowledge is a 'justified true belief', and every new theory has new beliefs, it is just that Plato has the original justification for it.

My philosophising started with the infinite, if I could capture the move from infinite to finite I had the essence of knowledge. For Plato it was 'the Idea and the Form', the Idea was eternal, no beginning no end, always true and the form was the imperfect impression of the Idea. After Plato came Aristotle, his Metaphysics began with 'identity and change', the identity of some object remained even as the object changed, change circled identity, I like to think of the identity as permanent controlling the nature of change. These are both valid theories, but for me change is captured within separate substances, there is the Physical and the Mental, within life they are mixed, and it is this mixture that creates change, both separately are eternal but as they mix, life and death creates spirals in the two infinites.
